As you know I am in Tblisi, Georgia with a group of
rabbis. We have visited with members of
the Georgian Jewish community as well as the US ambassador to Georgia, the
Israeli ambassador, the Foreign Minister and the head of the Georgian Orthodox
Church.
Part of the purpose of our visit is to see the work our contributions to Federation does overseas.
Here is a picture of Tonya, an 84 year old woman who is
visited regularly and receives a stipend to help her buy food and medicine with
support from the Joint. We are helping
her and many others as well as children's programs and educational activities
fostering Jewish education and identity.
